Brian's World Banner

Welcome to my Brian's World. I have often seen opinions from people with "name withheld" or some fictitious name, especially in the Newspapers. In my opinion, if you don't have the courage to sign your name, your opinion does not count, time to take a stand.

If you want to share your opinions, I welcome it. You can contact me at: but make sure you put "my opinion" in the "subject box" or else my spam filter will trash it and make sure it is signed. I might even post them. Thank you.

Sept. 18 , 2009. Michigan Budget Focus . Why do our elected leaders, and I use that term "leaders" loosely, wait until September, with an October 1st. deadline , to tackle the budget issue? It is not like they didn't know it was coming. They have had all year to make cuts. Oh, that's right, they don't know how to make cuts, just different ways to incease fees. That would be taxes in normal speak. I don't give a damn if you are a Republican or a Democrat, it is time to get rid of the entire bunch in Lansing. If the Republicans had been serious about their proposed cuts, they would have been pushing for them since last October but instead, they waited until this September. The Democrats, on the other hand, decided to wait until late September to suggest their tax increase agenda. They are all pathetic.

Some will say it is a result of Term Limits. I say, "Hogwash!" If you can't learn your jobs in a couple of years, most private companies would give you three months at the maximum, then you shouldn't be in that particular job. They should stop focuing on getting re-elected and more on the task for which they were first elected. Remember they are "public servants", not "what's in it for me servants."

Sept. 18, 2009. The Detroit Lions. Well, it is Friday morning and as of 7:15 am, the Lions are not sold out soSunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings may not be televised locally. Well, the NFL decided to give them an extension until 1:00 pm Friday to sell the remaining 1,700 tickets. The excuse for the extension is that the economy in Michigan is so bad that they should have the additional opportunity to sell the remaining tickets. While the economy is bad in Michigan may be an accurate statement, the real statement is that the Detroit Lions are "SO BAD" that they don't deserve a sellout. I am thankful they may not be on local television, that way I may not be tempted to sneak a peak at their losing style. Can you imagine the media coverage that the team that loses to Detroit will get. I am sure that even Jay Leno will have a comment about that team. I can hear Jay right now saying, "Well, it finally happened, the Detroit Lions finally won a game, (two or three people applaud) you have to wonder what (insert losing team name here) were thinking losing to a team that went 0-17. (insert new number weekly)

Here is my plea to the owner of the Lions. Mr. Ford, please sell the team to someone who is not a member of your family, someone who may have even the slightest clue how to run a football team.

Sept. 18, 2009. President Obama and the defense of our nation. President Obama has just declared that he will stop the installation of our missile defense system in the Czeck Republic and Poland. He made this announcement on the anniversay of the invasion of Poland by the Russians. The only people who are happy with this latest move are the Iranians, that whack job, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and the Russians, Dmitry Medvedev, the puppet for Vladimir Putin. They love the fact that we are becoming a weaker nation. President Obama said, this new system he is proposing with be "good , fast and cheap...pick two."

Please remember our heroes in the Military who are truly public servants, always giving to keep us safe and free.
